Comparing the two types of hardwood flooring

There are two types of wood flooring. This includes both engineered solid wood.

Please continue reading to learn similarities and critical differences. It will also help you decide if one type is better for you than another.

The similarities

On the surface, they both look similar. However, you get beautiful floors with knots, grains, swirls, and undertones with either version.

Textures are available with both, and they are what add character to the floors. You'll find some of the most popular ones, including brushed, hand-scraped and distressed, at our hardwood flooring company.

Both types of hardwood are long-lasting, can be refinished, and are easy to maintain. Either version will add value to your property and command a higher sales price.

The difference is in the construction

Solid is one thickness throughout and can be damaged by excess water and moisture. Engineered, however, is layered with three or more rows underneath.

The rows are made of genuine wood with a bit of resin. They are then placed in a crosswise position, resulting in wood flooring that’s more stable and better able to handle water.

Currently, engineered surfaces are taking a significant share of the wood floor industry. It appeals to those who want both beauty and practicality.

Engineered’s installation versatility

With engineered wood flooring, you choose glue-down, nail-down, or a floating floor. When a floor floats, pieces click together and mat.

The mat then hovers over the subfloor without nails or glue. It's a fast, uncomplicated installation.
